Self Care

Dear Reader,

We have been talking a lot about inspiration lately and the life of a writer. One of the things that I think is vitally important and links the inspiration with the writing, is self care. We all ‘know’ we need to take care of ourselves for our physical, mental and emotional health, but do we? Hopefully the answer is, yes. Taking the time to care for yourself every day is so important. I think it helps you be more open to the inspiration that comes your way. It allows you to focus when you alert and not tired from lack of sleep. (Lack of sleep is an area I struggle with daily).

I did reach my writing goal yesterday and I also took some time for myself last night and indulged in a bit of television and some knitting. Knitting is my meditation. It helps me relax, I enjoy knitting and listening to podcasts or an audiobook as well as a good movie or TV show. I am working on some Christmas presents and last night I was able to finish one and start another. It helped my mind to relax let go the day’s stress, which in turn helped me get a better night’s sleep.
